4. Plug the power cord into an outlet or power strip (preferably one
that has surge protection).
•The
Power LED on the front panel of the dock lights up.
Creating a Dock Network
Figure 27 shows the back of two docks in a network.

1. The dock on the left is connected to a third dock (which may be
connected to another dock).
2. The dock on the right is connected to the host computer with an
RS-232 cable.
To use an RS-422/485 connection to the host, use the telephone-
style jack at the far right. The RS-232 connector would not be
used.
3. Each 4-Slot Dock unit in the network must be connected to a sepa-
rate power supply.
